    Before You go

    Transportation to the Starting Point

Some Tours in Canada trips are designed as “land only” packages with the planned starting point at a convenient place such as a hotel near a major airport, and flights, if required, are arranged separately. For guests who would like assistance with their travel arrangements for before and after the trip, our Connections Program is one of our Optional Add-On services.

With motorcoach tours originating in Southern Ontario, guests join the tour at specific pickup points along the route. Our Connections Program was developed to eliminate the stress of worrying how to get to the starting point, and this program is an included feature for these trips. Check the “What’s Included” section for the selected trip. Refer to the Connections Program document for the details of the program options, the travel routes, and the pickup points.

Tours in Canada has agreements with partner hotels, but parking may be subject to availability and there may be an additional charge.

    Flight Information

For tours that are land only, and thus do not have flights included in the package, transfers to the first hotel from the airport, and from the last hotel to the airport may have additional charges depending on the arrival and departure times. Flights can be arranged by guests independently or they can be arranged by our reservations staff. See also our Optional Add-On Services.

    • What is needed for booking?

When booking a flight, the reservation will require the full legal name of the traveller, as it is shown on the passport or government-issued identification. For flights outside Canada, the passport number, date and place of issue, and expiry date will be needed. Once a flight is booked, it is non-refundable and any changes to name or details may not be possible without fees imposed by the airline.

    • Pre-Assigned Seats

Most airlines charge for pre-assigned seats. Where seats are not assigned at booking, guests must contact the airline directly to arrange their seat assignment. Depending on the airline and/or destination, changing the pre-assigned seat may be subject to an additional fee. Seating is solely under the airline’s control, as are flight itinerary changes due to flight delays and scheduled changes.

    • Meal Requests

For airlines that offer meals, special meals can be requested at time of booking. Tours in Canada cannot guarantee that the request will be granted.

    • Flight Changes & Cancellations

Flight changes and cancellations are the responsibility of the airline and are beyond our control. Tours in Canada will not be responsible or liable for such changes, or any additional charges that may then be required.

    • Flight Departure Fees

Some cities and countries have departure taxes that are payable in local currency when departing. These fees are not included in tour prices as these fees must be paid in cash. If required, this fee will be noted on travel documents.

    Luggage Information

Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the owner at all times. Although Tours in Canada staff is careful while handling luggage, guests should ensure that their luggage is in a condition sufficient to withstand the normal loading, unloading and delivery process. Tours in Canada does not accept liability for damage to luggage such as broken wheels or feet, lost pull straps, damage to retractable luggage handles, or damage resulting from over-packing.

    • Luggage Restrictions

      Large Suitcase

      • Max Size: 30”x 18”x 10” (76 x 46 x 25cm)
      • Max Weight: 50lbs / 23kg further size and weight limitations may be imposed by some airlines

      Carry-On

      • Max Size: 16”x 12”x 8” (40 x 30 x 20cm)
      • Max Weight: 50lbs / 23kg further size and weight limitations may be imposed by some airlines

Regardless of its size, suitcases must not exceed 23 kg. Extra charges apply to overweight or additional luggage.

If flights are involved with the trip, airline baggage fees may apply and are not included in the tour price.

On all tours, one (1) large piece of luggage and one (1) carry-on is permitted. Since overhead bins on the coach are much smaller than on airplanes, the carry-on dimensions should not exceed the maximum size listed above. The single large piece of luggage will be stored beneath the coach and delivered to the guest’s hotel room each night. The tour price includes luggage handling at all hotels, and luggage tags will be provided for identification.

    • Border Crossings

From our Terms & Conditions, whether travelling by air, cruise ship, or motorcoach, it is the guest’s responsibility to comply with the laws regarding the carrying of prohibited or restricted items across borders.

With motorcoach tours that cross the border between countries, all suitcases will be stored in locked compartments underneath the coach. Carry-on bags will remain with the guest and can be stored in the overhead bins. Please do not lock suitcases, since border security officials may do random luggage searches.

    Insurance

Like all insurance arrangements, travel insurance is characterized by very specific and precise wording which deals with benefits, covered reasons, and conditions under which coverage will be excluded. Tours in Canada recommends reading insurance documents carefully, and we invite guests to call with any questions.

    • Insurance Companies

Tours in Canada works with the following companies for travel insurance, and our reservations staff are knowledgeable regarding the travel insurance available through several group programs.

      Travel Guard

Travel Guard is a company providing quality travel insurance options with a global network of travel and emergency assistance services to help when in need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tours in Canada offers a range of choices including a complete package, medical only, cancellation only, insurance for individual tours, or even medical insurance as an annual plan.

      Sanderson Travel Insurance

Sanderson offers single trip medical plans, annual plans, cancellation and trip interruption insurance options. As an option for their medical insurance, Sanderson also offers COVID-19 insurance to cover emergency medical expenses incurred as a result of being diagnosed for COVID-19 while travelling outside of Canada.

    • Insurance Types

      Medical Insurance

We recommend that adequate medical insurance is in place when travelling outside your home province. For unforeseen events, it makes it possible to receive treatment from a licensed physician or, if necessary, to be hospitalized.

      Trip Cancellation Insurance

Trip Cancellation Insurance will cover the non-refundable payments in the event that prior to departure, the trip needs to be cancelled for a covered reason.

      Trip Interruption Insurance

Trip Interruption Insurance will cover the unused portion of the trip, in the event that the guest needs to leave a tour early for a covered reason, and may cover the arrangements to get home.

      Be Aware of the Terms

Insurance premiums are not refundable, and it is important to be aware of the terms that may limit benefits and amounts payable. Talking to our reservations staff about insurance needs can remove the confusion from all the fine print of the insurance options. Guests may have access to insurance from other sources, and we can discuss the available insurance options. If guests do purchase insurance through Tours in Canada, they will be quoted their rates and will receive a booklet with all the insurance details.

Before you go, put your mind at ease knowing that adequate insurance is in place.
