    • Highlights

      Bermuda

The most northerly group of coral islands in the world, lying just beyond the Gulf Stream, about 650 miles off the coast of the Carolinas, is Bermuda. Although it is only 21 square miles, Bermuda offers a wide variety of places to see, people to meet, and things to do. Visit Hamilton, the capital, with its smart shops and busy traffic, or St. George’s, a World Heritage Site with its Old-World lanes and fortress. Explore from the North Shore, with its interesting rock formations, to the South Shore with its famous pink and white sandy beaches. From end to end, Bermuda is picturesque, and with an abundance of verdant trees and colorful flowers and the landscape is dotted with pastel-hued, white-roofed houses, and stately hotels.

      Bermuda Royal Dockyard

Just steps from your ship is where culture, history, and adventure await! The area combines modern attractions, an arts &craft center, restaurants & pubs, and a shopping mall with boutique shops, and there is a convenient free tram that takes you to different areas of the dockyard.  From here, find transportation to other parts of the island: boat tours, bike rentals, all kinds of water sports, golfing & fishing tours.  Snorkel Park Beach offers many underwater features & colourful fish, plus kayaking, and paddleboats. You can even arrange to swim with Dolphins at the interactive Dolphin Quest.

Exciting things to do and see on the Island:

Beaches: Bermuda has beaches to fit every traveller, from soft pink sands to rocky coves. The stunning pink-hued stretch of Horseshoe Bay along the South Shore makes it a perennial favourite, while the small, secluded Jobson’s Cove is hidden among steep cliffs. Head to Sea Glass or Black Bay Beach to find multi-coloured sea glass worn smooth by the waves.  A short bus ride of 30 – 40 minutes takes you to the Pink beaches of the South Shore.

Hamilton, the the capital of Bermuda, is where you’ll find galleries, museums, and the best selection of shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. Take high tea or try a British beer, sometimes served warm. Hamilton is the heart and commercial hub of the island. It is easily reached by a short Ferry ride from the Royal Dock Yards. There is nothing more romantic than a horse drawn carriage taking a stately tour of Hamilton City. Throughout your exploration, keep an eye out for the island’s famous Bermuda shorts.

St. George's: At the eastern end of Bermuda lies St. George's Bermuda’s oldest town, steeped with history and a designated UNESCO world heritage site. Established in 1612, it retains its British heritage with stone buildings and neatly bricked streets, the lanes in the town are just wide enough for horses and carriages. At Fort Catherine, find history and tradition on display, including replicas of Britain’s Crown Jewels.

Enjoy Lighthouse Views:  Get a lay of the land with panoramic views from the grounds of Gibbs Hill. The world’s oldest cast-iron lighthouse offers vistas of the City of Hamilton, Royal Naval Dockyard and South Shore beaches. In spring, you might even spot humpback whales during their annual migration.

Bike the Railway Trail: The Bermuda Railway once traversed the island from St. George’s to Somerset. Today, the track’s path has been converted to a scenic biking and hiking trail that passes historic sites such as the Scaur Hill Fort. Biking the Bermuda Railway Trail allows you to actively experience miles of natural scenery and spectacular ocean views.

Scaur Hill Fort Park: As you bike along the Railway Trail, stop at Scaur Hill Fort and Park to take in panoramic ocean views and explore the cannons, moats and underground passages.

Crystal Caves:  Descend into the Crystal Caves to witness one of Bermuda’s most awe-inspiring sights. Floating pontoons create a footpath across the cavern’s serene underground lake, while jagged stalactites hang from the ceiling, and mineral deposits make the walls glitter like diamonds.

Snorkel Park Beach: Without a doubt, this is some of the best snorkeling in Bermuda! Only feet from the beach, in the beautiful crystal clear, shallow water, snorkeling could not be any better! Experienced staff can provide an orientation with plenty of suggestions and tips. They also rent the equipment you need right there.

Golf: Bermuda has many outstanding golf courses, and NCL can help you with arrangements for a round.
